People Who Just Love To Brag

|
I used to work with a bunch of gambling addicts. People who gambled away their hard earned paychecks at casinos. One coworker spent lunchtime buying and scratching lottery scratchers rather than eating her lunch.  Her desk color turned gray because it was filled with gray latex residues from the scratcher tickets. Another coworker would either eat peanuts or nothing for lunch because she always lost money gambling at casinos. The worst one was a coworker losing her house to foreclosure because her husband was addicted to football gambling. The marriage ended in divorce.

Then there were those who bragged and lied about their winnings. One lady boasted that she never lost money but always won at least $1,000 to $5,000 at casinos...every weekend. She didn't need to work if she won that much per week! Another gentleman told us the hundreds of thousands of dollars he made from day trading stocks. Everyday he talked about the stock market and during break time, people would come by and ask him for some stock tips. There were a few others who talked all the time about how much money they made from the stock market. The figures were always in the thousands to tens of thousands.

The announcement of the workplace closure popped a lot people's hot air bubbles. The entire workplace atmosphere changed. Suddenly, no one talked about how their gambling winnings or stock market gains. People started to open up about their financial truths; their fears and their money problems. Those who bragged about their gambling winnings and investment profits now talked candidly about their financial problems. There were a lot of fears in people's eyes on our last day at work. That was what I felt sad the most...seeing people vulnerable and afraid.

Hi Rosebelle!

Happy Monday to you! I used to not do memes too, but some of them are real nice. It's where I get to meet new friends and learn more things from around the world! Of course I only choose the memes & followed blogs that looks fun and inspiring to me!

As for this post, well, I do know ppl who brag and show off the coolest newest thing they have and put up a nice front for people to see but in actual fact, they live on borrowed money and every month when they get their pay, they'll hurry off to settle the minimum amount of their credit cards and try to survive through the month. Sad, sad...

People like these are just living a lie. And worst of all, they are just lying to themselves; an inner battle with their conscience probably in a bid to justify their bad habits. It is self-destructive. I hope they are able to solve their current problems. Sometimes, it takes an external circumstance to wake them up; a good lesson to all.

Bragging never helps. People never have a good impression on braggers. They even lose up on their Social life that way.

I'm always concerned about people who loves to earn money the quick easy way without a need for hard work. Too many suffer because of that. Just like what you said...the bubble bursts. It's always a matter of time.

That's really sad.

Yes, that is very sad. It's so much better just to be honest from the beginning. I think there are so many people who put on financial fronts.

I know a bunch of people who just love to tell the world how 'rich' they are. Noboday's a fool; people know when you are full of it.

oh no...so sad to hear about your job loss..
The people who brag are there everywhere...most people are scared to be truthful about their situation and are in denial..hence the bragging..

Good luck and best wishes that you get a new job very soon...
BTW..you have not picked up your Captioning trophy...

The people that lived in this house before me had to do a short sale due to gambling losses. At least that's the story I heard.

It's interesting you had so many bad gamblers in one work place.

It's really ashamed to throw money away like that. I never go to the casinos I think it is like throwing your money in the garbage. I rather use my money on doing things with the kids at least the kids will have memories of family time.

We have a couple of people like that at my job as well...we tend to just ignore them and that helps.

But I hope you find a great job soon!

Gambling can never be justified...no matter how people try to do so. It brings misery.

Good luck to you, and the rest..

I don't like bagers and gamblers. Most of the time when you gamble you end up losing everything you won and more...

Cheers,

Rosa

I find those that brag are usually very insecure and just want to appear as if they are bold!

Gambling is really bad for the society. It's really a waste of money..In our country, the muslims are prohibited from gambling.

Yeah, a lot of people are like that. It's hard when we don't know the truth about ourselves, even worse, when we know the truth but refuse to accept it.
