Summer in San Francisco does not feel like summer at all. It's mostly cold, windy, overcast, and foggy. No sun. Just gray sky and clouds. Some parts of the city are blessed with some sun and are much warmer but overall, it's just cold. Tourists to San Francisco should be aware of the city's not-so-summer friendly weather. When I was working, I used to walk pass a heavily tourist populated area with tour buses and cabs parked in front of the hotels. On any given day in the summer, I'd see our under dressed tourists shivering in their shorts and t-shirts.
The most beautiful day so far this year was on March 19. The weather was pleasantly warm. There was no clouds in the sky and while driving home that evening, I captured this rare beauty. As the sun was setting, the ocean was glistening so brightly, it was hard to look at it. There was not a single cloud to distort the beautiful sunset.
Two days later, the weather cooled down but the ocean view was still beautiful. There was a few clouds in the sky and look at the difference in the sunset.

Oops! I forgot to answer your question on chow fun! Over here, chow fun is loosely used for any type of fried noodles. We have so many styles of frying - Hokkien Fried, Cantonese Fried, Singapore Fried, Mee Goreng just to name a few!!
Sunsets are so special... It's funny that you remember the exact date of that one perfect day! :)

Have you ever been to The HOuse Of Prime Rib? That's our favorite restaurant to go to when we're in the city!
do you live in san fran? i was there in summer 2008 and LOVED it and you're right about those damn under-dressed tourists! hehehe. good thing that i packed in a warm jacket and a shawl. went to sausolito for brunch and that place made me wanting to retire there. wish i could live in san fran....lots of wishes.... :(

Agree about the weather in the city by the bay. But during our honeymoon one April a long long time ago, it was LA that gave us the chills and San Francisco that provided the warmth, till we landed on Hawaii...
Not just tourists, people coming to work in SF from another city are dressed in summer clothes too. It's hot in their city but cold here. Beautiful sunset pictures you posted.
Lancaster is somewhat like San Francisco...Summer here starts in May..and it depends..some days it is nice and sunny in the morning but can quickly start raining..such is the British Weather :)

Obviously it was warm that day. Hope you will get to experience such a beautiful day again. Here in my country the weather is just nice nowadays..I'm lovin it!It used to be so hot but now its colder.
March 19th is a wonderful day because it's my daughter's birthday. I would expect gorgeous weather!

Whenever I visit my friend, I am always a little moved when I see fog roll in, creating a almost romantic mist around the house. : )
wow I never knew that san fran summers were kind of chilly! To be honest, I would take that over the hot and sticky weather right now.

Yes, there's a difference in the sunset in the 2nd and 3rd photos. The sun looked like it was trying to shine thru the cold in the 3rd one.
Nice sunset pictures! I can send you some hot and sticky weather from Louisiana but I think you may want to consider and stick with the San Francisco cool weather. Have A Great Cool Day!!! :o)
