My girls did continue to walk but they didn't hasten their pace. Instead, they meandered. They paid attention to everything along the way. They noticed the little pink flowers on the bushes, the broken glass on the trail, and the spider webs on the bushes. They stopped and looked at everything that their curious minds saw along the trail despite me hurrying them along. When we turned around to walk home, my eldest daughter stopped in front of a bush. She said the fragrant seemed to have came from that bush. I smelled the little purple flowers on the bush and indeed it was the sweet floral scent that filled the air. My eldest said it smells just like our hand lotion. I looked at the flowers and my first thought was, "Lilac?". Okay, by now, you all should know I'm not good with flowers but lavender was a second thought that popped in my head because its scent is commonly used in hand lotions, soap bars, and dishwashing liquids. I didn't bring a camera with me that day but returned the next day and nipped off a tiny branch of flowers to take to a plant nursery and ask if they can help me identify the flower.

At first, I wanted to plant this flower in my backyard but moments later, my youngest daughter pointed to a trail of ants. I looked closer and saw a lot of ants around the bush which was not a good sign. I definitely don't want ants in my backyard. We ended up not going to the plant nursery after all but since I took a picture of the flower, I'll probably go this weekend and find out more about this flower.

I love the scent of lilac...wish I can plant them here.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Rosebelle, I'd love to follow your lovely blog but I don't see your 'Follow' widget!!
Lilac I think certainly doesn't look like lavender to me :)
Pretty cool that you guys went back to investigate the flower. That's the kind of thing kids remember. You'll probably end up with a couple of garden lovers. All the Best! AV
@Veronica - The widget is up now. Thanks for asking about it. I thought my Subscribe widget works the same until I checked it out at first.
It sure LOOKS like lilac...
I do have artificial lavender in my room. I don't think it's a lavender but I am not really sure okay , because both flowers do not grow in my country. So I am not an expert here.. I just love lavender so much - even the artificial one!!. Have a beautiful weekend Rosebelle!
I am not sure but I think this flower could be lavender.
Following now!!
Happy Saturday RoseBelle!
It's funny how a flower the size of a thumb can fill the air with such fragrance. What you said about lavender gave me an idea. I'm thinking about collecting flowers to put in my underwear drawer. Soap bars just doesn't cut it.
Besides the sweet scent of the flower, you and your girls had a great mommy moments together.
Enjoy your weekend and more fun walks! My daughter and I are going on a 5 mile hike this morning.
It's okay to stop and smell the roses or in this case lavender! Have a nice weekend...
Hello Rosebelle,
First of all, how sweet of you to have a day out with your kids. So far, I only have a son. I wish to have more kids.
Kids do enjoy walking at a slow pace. They tend to observe their surroundings. But the adults would prefer to walk straight to their destination without appreciating their surroundings.
It was the kids who found the flowers right? I am not good at flowers too. So i cannot really give you the answer. I wish you proceeded to any local florists...at least i would learn something new. Hehehe.
Ants coming? Are you sure that the ants were actually coming after the flowers? Maybe it was a coincidence that the ants have nests over there. Hehehe
Ok then...have a nice day yeah?
Hi Rosebelle, in about 2 weeks there will 2 large lilac plants blooming with their beautiful scent.
Pity they don't last long though.
What you cooking?
Have a nice day and keep a song in your heart, Lee.
If it is rose-like, it was probably Lilac. No matter what, take a deep breath and enjoy...
Looks like lilac to me but I have never had an ant problem with any of my bushes.
That is a pretty flower, and eek on the ants! LOL
Lilac or lavender, I love both of them as I like just any kind of flower.
I'm following you now, dear. Thanks for always visiting as ever. May you and your family enjoy the remaining hours of the weekend.
Flowers always fascinate me. Their fragrance is something that is very unique.
BTW, are you sure the ants were behind the flower?
I am your newest follower! Have a good day...:)
Love the color very nice!
I love looking at flowers and taking pictures of them but like you, I am not good at naming them.
Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend. :)
I have no idea as I am not a flower guy. But the flowers you had are really nice.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment.I definitely love flowers and I love the smell of Lilac or Lavender too. I love to take walks with my daughter after dinner around our neighborhood. We like to talk along the way and look at everyone's flowers and gardens. HAVE A BLESS WEEKEND!!!

I've never noticed ants being overly attracted to lilacs but they tend to cover peonies which can be a bit gross.
