Already Needing Braces

|
This time around, the dentist had this serious look on her face after she examined my daughter's teeth. She asked me to take a look at my 8-year-old daughter's lower front teeth and then pointed to an erupting tooth. She said, "You see this tooth trying to come out? Well, it can't because it's growing in the wrong spot." That didn't sound good at all. The dentist said we need to get my daughter to an orthodontist as soon as possible. Yup, she needs braces. The ortho would need to make room for the new permanent tooth. It's growing behind another permanent tooth right now and is pushing that permanent tooth out of its place.

It's funny how a lot of kids nowadays have crooked teeth. I see so many kids wearing braces now. I wonder if it's the kinds of foods that we eat that is impacting the development of straight teeth. I look at my parents and my siblings and we all have relatively straight teeth. Similarly, my friends have straight teeth but their kids have crooked teeth and some of them are wearing braces now. I read from a health magazine not too long ago that eating carrot sticks help kids' teeth grow straight. I'm going to have force my girls eat carrot sticks and cut back on candies and sweet foods. I would want my youngest one to grow her teeth straight like her baby ones right now.

My friend's daughter has the same problem like your daughter's. Hope it can be fixed by the experts. We still have to wait for our baby to see if his teeth will grow well like his older sister and brother.
Thanks for stopping by, sis:)

Your daughter is so cute! I donno if my children can chew on carrots. They hate vegetables. I'm gonna let them try it soon. You are so right. Sweet food is the reason for the crooked teeth among children nowadays.

I'm just back from the dentist. I never enjoy the experience. Agree with you that kids these days have weird teeth....too big, not straight etc. It must be due to food.

I think today the braces are easier to wear and maintain. Good luck and glad you found this out while she's so young.

What a lovely little girl! I can't see from the picture the problem with the teeth that you described. Oh... silly me... you were talking about the lower front teeth... haha. The picture only shows the upper part.

Good question you raised there about the crooked teeth among the younger generations. Although we can't be sure if it's really true that more kids are having problems with their teeth nowadays, I think we can find some statistical data for that. And once we do, we can then point our fingers at someone. =)

Wearing braces can be a challenge in the early stages but worth it when you see a perfectly straight set of teeth.
